In 2000 Mrs. A.M.Strauss, the owner of Lasting Impressions, took a part time post at the Durban Further Education College, giving training in Cosmetology. It was whilst she was there that the need for a workshop based, skills-development based instruction in massage was realised. The massage workshops procedures have been designed to enable all the learners attending the workshops, especially those who were previously disadvantaged, to gain as much personal benefit as possible.
Lasting Impressions Health & Beauty Training Studio was established at the end of 2001.
Since its establishment it has been running workshops in massage.

Definition of Massage:
The manipulation of the soft tissues of the body performed by the hands, for the purpose of producing effects on the vascular, muscular and nervous systems, plus all other systems of the body.
Application of hand-performed massage can cause relaxation, stimulation and aid in
rehabilitation of the whole body by promoting circulation and muscle density, thus reducing stress.

Benefits and effects of massage.
Stimulating:
all the systems of the body are invigorated to function to their optimum by the blood circulation being stimulated. This stimulation has a relaxing effect on muscle tissue in spasm.
Soothing: when massage is carried out it relaxes the body and reduces stress,
which benefits complete health.
Safe: massage applied correctly is a non-invasive natural therapy.
Universal: from young to old benefit from the caring touch of massage.
